La determinaci\u00f3n de la elegibilidad de los no ciudadanos para el permiso de trabajo queda a discreci\u00f3n del gobierno federal.<\/p>\n<p>En septiembre, el gobierno de Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/2023\/09\/21\/thousands-of-venezuelan-migrants-can-apply-for-work-permits-after-feds-expand-temporary-protection-status\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">ampli\u00f3 la posibilidad de obtener permisos de trabajo a miles de inmigrantes<\/a> que llegaron a Estados Unidos procedentes de Venezuela antes del 31 de julio a trav\u00e9s de un programa denominado estatus de protecci\u00f3n temporal.<\/p>\n<p>El traslado fue una gran ayuda para Chicago, ya que la ciudad ha tenido problemas para atender a los reci\u00e9n llegados y ha estado deseosa de encaminar a la gente hacia la autosuficiencia.<\/p>\n<p>Los defensores de los inmigrantes se apresuraron a aplaudir la ampliaci\u00f3n del estatuto de protecci\u00f3n temporal para los venezolanos reci\u00e9n llegados, pero <a href=\"https:\/\/blockclubchicago.org\/2023\/09\/22\/chicago-advocates-want-feds-to-grant-work-permits-to-all-immigrants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-wpel-link=\"internal\">exigieron medidas similares para los miles de indocumentados de Chicago<\/a> que no pueden solicitar un permiso de trabajo y trabajar legalmente.<\/p>\n<p>Una opci\u00f3n que han barajado los l\u00edderes locales es ampliar el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/humanitarian\/humanitarian_parole#:~:text=The%20Immigration%20and%20Nationality%20Act,reasons%20or%20significant%20public%20benefit.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener external\" data-wpel-link=\"external\">parole, otra forma de protecci\u00f3n temporal<\/a> para los inmigrantes.
