El dolor por la p\u00e9rdida de un hijo nunca desaparece. Conocer la causa de su muerte arroja algo de luz sobre los interrogantes que su familia y tantos miembros de nuestra ciudad y del gobierno municipal se han planteado desde su tr\u00e1gica muerte.<br \/>El hecho de que la causa fuera la sepsis, o una infecci\u00f3n en la sangre, me ayuda a entender c\u00f3mo su estado se deterior\u00f3 de forma tan r\u00e1pida y devastadora. En Chicago, estamos muy familiarizados con los estreptococos como infecci\u00f3n respiratoria, que a menudo se manifiesta con un diagn\u00f3stico de faringitis estreptoc\u00f3cica. Lamentablemente, Jean Carlos experiment\u00f3 una forma mucho m\u00e1s peligrosa de esta infecci\u00f3n en la sangre que el ME determin\u00f3 que fue en \u00faltima instancia la causa de su muerte.<br \/>Entiendo que el refugio Halsted tuvo un caso de estreptococo respiratorio a principios de noviembre de 2023, lo que desencaden\u00f3 la aplicaci\u00f3n de protocolos de pruebas y tratamiento que superaron las directrices de los CDC para hacer frente a la propagaci\u00f3n de la enfermedad. Estos protocolos estaban en vigor a finales de noviembre cuando la familia de Jean Carlos lleg\u00f3 al refugio y el ni\u00f1o fue sometido a pruebas a principios de diciembre con un resultado negativo.<br \/>Es extremadamente dif\u00edcil proporcionar atenci\u00f3n a tantas personas en un solo lugar y me gustar\u00eda ver el apoyo federal de inmediato para ayudar a descomprimir el refugio y proporcionar servicios adicionales envolventes para los residentes y los reci\u00e9n llegados diarios. En los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os, el Estado ha recortado los fondos destinados a la atenci\u00f3n sanitaria de los residentes indocumentados. Me gustar\u00eda que se restablecieran.<br \/>La ciudad est\u00e1 trabajando incansablemente para satisfacer las necesidades de los residentes del refugio, espec\u00edficamente en el sitio de refugio Halsted, s\u00e9 que las mejoras se han hecho en los \u00faltimos meses a la ventilaci\u00f3n HVAC y sistema de calefacci\u00f3n, la instalaci\u00f3n de fuentes de agua potable filtrada, estaciones de desinfecci\u00f3n de manos, limpieza a fondo de las superficies de alto contacto, incluyendo en los ba\u00f1os y duchas 3x por d\u00eda, 24 horas en las instalaciones de lavander\u00eda, filtraci\u00f3n HEPA en algunas \u00e1reas de congregaci\u00f3n, y otras mejoras.<br \/>A mediados de febrero, m\u00e1s de 2.000 solicitantes de asilo se encontraban en el centro de acogida temporal y seguimos abogando por un mayor apoyo por parte de los Gobiernos Estatal y Federal para respaldar viviendas y servicios alternativos para los residentes. Estas entidades fueron capaces de integrar con \u00e9xito a los refugiados ucranianos en nuestro estado y ciudad con seguridad y dignidad, y esperamos que las agencias gubernamentales estatales y federales puedan implementar esos mismos programas humanos ahora.<\/p><p>Datos b\u00e1sicos sobre la septicemia :<br \/>\u2022 La sepsis, o septicemia, se produce cuando una infecci\u00f3n llega a la sangre.
